According to a statement, the purchase, of privately-held LiveOffice, will extend Symantec’s intelligent information governance services.

US-based LiveOffice provides services for email, instant messaging, social media and file sharing, and is already part of Symantec’s Clearwell eDiscovery Platform.

LiveOffice mainly helps businesses archiving email through cloud services. If a company’s email goes down, employees can still send and receive messages.

Deepak Mohan, senior vice president of Information Management Group at Symantec, comments: ‘The acquisition of LiveOffice further extends Symantec’s leadership in archiving and eDiscovery.

‘Symantec continues to enhance its offerings and deepen its commitment to provide the most comprehensive and innovative information management solutions delivered on premise, in the cloud, or as a hybrid solution.’

Headquartered in California, Symantec has its European base in Dublin.
