Western Digital acquires SiliconSystems

Western Digital, a California-based specialist in hard drive storage, has acquired SiliconSystems, a supplier of solid state drives, for $65 million (£45.5 million) in cash. SiliconSystems will now trade as WD Solid-State Storage.

Dorset-based manufacturer of defence and aerospace systems Cobham Plc has sold M/A-COM Technology Solutions (MTS), its US commercial business division, to John Ocampo, the owner of private equity fund GaAs Labs, for up to $90 million (£65 million).
