Portable USB drives are handy little things, but wouldn’t they be even handier if you could tell how much space was left on them before plugging them in?

That’s the thinking behind Lexar’s JumpDrive Secure II Plus (a big name for something the size of your thumb), which boasts a shatter-proof display indicating available storage space at a glance.

The device also comes preloaded with security software allowing you to drag files into a ‘secure area’ for automatic encryption, as well as create your own password-protected areas.

Compatible with both PCs and Macs, the drive is available in 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB and 8GB versions, ranging in price from £12.50 to £80.
