Here, we look at the innovative businesses that met their target on equity crowdfunding platform Seedrs this month.

Crowdfunding site Seedrs has released its latest list of companies which have made their funding target in November.


How much raised: £3,215,526

Number of investors: 2,113

For what: Proceeds will go towards the purchase of three mobile ‘bitumen plants’ that will enable pre-mixing

  • MacRebur uses waste to replace bitumen in asphalt, resulting in more durable, longer-lasting roads
  • MacRebur’s products are all made from 100 per cent recycled plastic materials
  • Helping to reduce unwanted, discarded plastics from landfill and from the oceans
  • Its roads can now be driven on around the UK in counties including Cumbria, Newcastle, Dumfries and Galloway, Gloucestershire, Coventry, Ayrshire, East Renfrewshire, Durham and Enfield
  • Already laid roads in Bahrain, Australia, New Zealand and Turkey
  • Recently announced the launch of its first roads in the USA

MarcoPolo Learning:

For what: Funds will be used to continue development and growth of its core online virtual school platform

  • Digital early childhood education company
  • Was a US headquartered company, but moved to the UK in 2017 and has been growing ever since – hiring 30 new UK employees
  • PhD-designed platform offering a comprehensive STEAM curriculum to children between the ages of three and seven
  • The platform recently launched the MarcoPolo World School, a digital subscription preschool service offering customised learning paths
  • Seven million downloads so far
  • #1 app in over 70 countries
  • Backed by Seedcamp, Boat Rocker Ventures and Horizon Ventures, among others
  • Currently has over 100 one minute lessons and 1,000 learning activities

  • Emily Crisps is the fruit and veg crisp company producing delicious, gluten free, vegan, kosher and halal certified snacks
  • Listed in retailers like Selfridges, Harrods, Ocado, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s
  • Partnered with numerous airlines such as Virgin and British Airways
  • Winner of numerous awards such as Great Taste, Quality Food and the Grocer awards

Sustainable Accelerator:

How much raised: £847,700

Number of investors: 570

For what: Fund product

  • Led by Sustainable Ventures, Sustainable Accelerator supports the UK’s best SIES and EIS sustainability startups
  • Supporting the companies that are redefining the ways we consumer energy, manage waste, clean air, and apply smart technology
  • The Fund will aim to invest between £50,000 to £250,000 into around five – eight potential sustainability businesses
  • The Sustainable Accelerator will provide a 1 year programme of expert mentorship, network introductions, fundraising support and growth services

  • Orca is a P2P investment aggregation platform which enables returns, reduces risk and saves time
  • Orca’s mission is to make investing in P2P as simple and efficient as possible
  • The platform allows people to invest across multiple P2P platforms, lending sectors and a large number of borrowers
  • Participated in the FCA Innovation Sandbox
  • Since launch at the end of March, over 300 investor accounts have been referred to partnering platforms
  • Currently integrates with five UK P2P platforms, including Landbay and LendingCrowd

  • Awarded a Spark Design Award and shortlisted for Innovate UK’s Design Innovation Award
  • Named as one of the top-10 pet startups to watch in Europe

  • Veeqo helps online retailers all over the world grow their business by selling on multiple channels
  • It is an all-in-one platform that brings every requirement a retailer needs to run a profitable ecommerce operation in one place
  • Its software is used by over 300 retailers
  • Currently powers an average of £16 million worth of sales per month
  • Given a grant by the Welsh government in 2017
  • Integrated with all the major shipping couriers in the world

For what: Funds raised will go towards fuelling expansion of its service across London and Reading

  • Grocemania is an online on-demand service delivering groceries from local or chain stores
  • The platform allows customers to browse and buy from local stores online and have it delivered by couriers in as little as one hour
  • Currently it has over 20 stores, with a minimum order of £10 and flat fee of £2.50
  • Over 350 users and over 10,000 followers on social media
  • Have fulfilled nearly 1,000 orders in the last 3 months
