Ultra Electronics buys Atkins for £4 million

Ultra Electronics (Ultra), a group of specialist electronic systems and product supply companies, has acquired specialist software provider Atkins & Partners for £4 million.

Ultra Electronics (Ultra), a group of specialist electronic systems and product supply companies, has acquired specialist software provider Atkins & Partners for £4 million.

The deal will be financed with Ultra’s existing facilities and is expected to be earnings enhancing next year.

Ultra’s chief executive, Douglas Caster, said: “Its [Atkins] addition to Ultra’s portfolio enhances the Group’s ability to provide modern homeland security services for which there is an increasing demand worldwide.”

Atkins, established in 1991, has worked with Ultra for the last three years and specialises in the supply of software for emergency planning, command and control, crisis and incident management and computer-based training and briefing.

Ultra’s main business is designing, manufacturing and supporting electronic and electromechanical systems, sub-systems and products for defence, security and aerospace applications worldwide.
