Organised by non-profit entrepreneur network TiE, the award ceremony was held at the Millenium Hotel in Mayfair with more than 350 guests.
Accepting the award, Nanda commented that this was the third such accolade he had won since arriving in the UK three weeks ago. He also collected the Asian Leadership in International Business Awards at the 24th Asian Who’s Who Dinner and the Entrepreneur of the Year Award at the GG2 Leadership Awards.
With over 93,000 employees, Topsgrup has gone on the acquisition trail in recent years, buying a 51 per cent interest in UK-based Shield Guarding Company in 2008.
Other businesspeople to win awards on the night included Pinky Lilani, whose company Spice Magic publishes books and runs seminars about Indian cookery. Lilani won the Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award in recognition of her business success and charitable work.
Among the guests of honour was Anil Agarwal, founder and chairman of FTSE 100 mining company Vedanta Resources. When asked for his advice to 19-year-olds starting out in business today, he stressed the importance of having a dream and striving to fulfill it.
TiE is an international organisation with operations in 14 countries. It was founded in Silicon Valley in 1992 to help develop a new generation of entrepreneurs.
