London-headquartered Saaspoint has been bought out by Appirio as the UK business looks to boost its presence in new markets.
California-based Appirio provides cloud computer services and is to use Saaspoint to ‘aggressively build’ into Europe. Cloud consultancy business Saaspoint has existing customers including British Gas, Citylink, Dell and PayPal.
The purchase, made for an undisclosed amount, marks Appirio’s fourth M&A deal this year with its most recent acquisition being for Salesforce.com implementation business Inforwelders.
Chris Barbin, chief executive officer of Appirio, comments: ‘Cloud computing is poised for significant growth in Europe with companies like salesforce.com, Google and Workday moving aggressively into the market, but the partner ecosystem is still evolving.
‘European customers that need a partner with both cloud-focused expertise and a global footprint have had limited options. Our goal is to fill that void.’
John Appleby, chief executive officer of Saaspoint, says that the two companies have a ‘shared culture and vision’.
He adds: ‘Both Appirio and Saaspoint have built strong, high-growth businesses around a talented team of people that understand the promise and power of cloud solutions.’
Appirio is also planning further acquisitions in territories including Scandinavia and Germany.
‘Having two trusted partners like Appirio and Saaspoint join forces makes our thriving partner ecosystem even stronger, and will help Salesforce.com serve the needs or our rapidly growing customer base in Europe,’ says president of EMEA at Salesforce.com, Miguel Milano.
