Think “online racing” and the image that springs to mind is of inactive teenagers who can’t remember the last time they set foot outside. Now the Expresso S2u exercise bike proves you can enjoy some internet competition and work up a healthy sweat at the same time.

The S2u acts as your daily workout while allowing you to compete online against up to eight other riders at once. If you can’t find people willing to race you at 5.30am, there’s a “ghost ride” function that allows you to compete against your own best time.

Costing £5,532, the bike comes complete with a 17-inch LCD screen displaying more than 30 virtual racing courses of varying terrain and levels of difficulty – perfect for when the weather’s bad or you fancy a change of scenery.

The S2u also comes with a built-in TV tuner. Never before has a product held such appeal for both computer geek and exercise freak.
