• Rambler Media, a Moscow-based internet and media services company, has sold its mobile services business, SMX Communications, to rival Plastic Media. The details of the deal were not disclosed.
• Cargoitalia, a Milan-based subsidiary of Alis Aerolinee Italiane, has acquired Alitalia‘s cargo operation for an undisclosed sum.
• Rackable Systems, a California-based provider of servers and storage products for data centres, has acquired rival Silicon Graphics Inc (SGI) for $25m (£16.5m).
• Fundtech, a New Jersey-based provider of transaction banking services, has acquired Manchester-based IP firm InterSoftware.
• Barclays Private Equity has agreed to acquire Bounty Group, the UK operations of online media company Kaboose, for some £54 million.

• Manchester-based law firm Brabners Chaffe Street has merged with Liverpool-based rival Bremners Solicitors. The merger is expected to complete by May.
• US private equity firm SK Capital Partners has agreed to acquire St Louis-based integrated nylon business Solutia for an undisclosed sum.
