Infrastructure support services company May Gurney has acquired the Scottish business Turriff for up to £13.6 million.

Infrastructure support services company May Gurney Integrated Services has acquired the complementary Scottish business Turriff for up to £13.6 million.

An initial cash consideration of £8.6 million will be followed by a further performance-related sum of up to £5 million payable over three years. In addition, May Gurney will assume around £9.4 million of debt.

Philip Fellowes-Prynne, chief executive of May Gurney, comments: ‘This transaction meets with our strategy of developing wider services with existing clients and increasing our geographical spread. Turriff will provide access to the power and gas maintenance sectors, the Scottish support services market and [the acquisition] consolidates our position in water.’

Aberdeen-based Turriff provides utility infrastructure maintenance services to companies including Scottish Water and Scottish & Southern Energy. The company has 550 employees across its five Scottish offices, and in 2010 made a net profit of around £2.5 million on revenues of £41 million.

AIM-listed May Gurney provides maintenance services to public sector and regulated sector clients in the UK, in areas such as environmental and highway services.
