The undisclosed deal was funded by Royal Bank of Scotland and loan notes. Spotting potential in the firm, former haulage firm Sargents’ sales director Jonathan Smith has joined the management team. OGES’ current managing director and founder Grae Scott moves into the role of CEO, with co-founder and operations director Steve Trew retaining his position.

Prior to the deal OGES operated a waste disposal business, Smith told M&A: “As a result of EEC directives targeting landfill sites and the UK government pushing recycling forward, the sector is strong and growing.

“We are now able to sell the waste that was previously being disposed of to companies that can recycle it. Our service gives companies an alternative to relying on local services.”
