IT business Lumison has purchased DediPower Managed Hosting in its second acquisition of the year, following its purchase of Blue Square Data for £22 million in March.

Reading-based DediPower brings to Lumison a business which provides managed IT hosting. The company is said by Lumison to complement its existing capabilities.

Chief executive officer of Lumison, Mark Howling, comments: ‘The addition of DediPower to the business is a strong strategic and cultural fit and will consolidate our position as a leading player in the IT managed services sector.

‘The business will remain focused on providing practical, cost-effective solutions to customer business IT issues. Customers increasingly demand reliable IT infrastructure-as-a-service as the need for a scalable and flexible way of working grows.’

Established in 1998, DediPower placed 41st in the 2010 Sunday Times Tech Track 100 of fast growing technology companies in the UK.

The deal follows on from the investment funding received by Lumison in October 2010 from Bridgepoint Development Capital.

Following the acquisition Edinburgh-based Lumison will employ 130 staff in the UK and have a reported combined turnover of £27.5 million.

Financial details of the deal were undisclosed.
