Hydrasun, an oil and gas firm based in Aberdeen, has acquired the hydraulics arm of ATR Group, an oil and gas tool rental company, for undisclosed terms.

The deal was backed by Barclays Private Equity in a move to maximise the value of Hydrasun, its portfolio company. The Aberdeen business provides oil and gas companies with fluid connectors, hoses, fittings, instrumentation, process control products and other services.

ATR Hydraulics is one of five separate companies that form ATR Group. The sale of the hydraulics business will enable ATR to focus on its rental-based services to offshore contractors.

In 2007, Barclays Private Equity backed the management buy-out of the Hydrasun business to support its international expansion plans.
