IP video distribution and networking business Haivision Network Video has made a double deal with the acquisitions of KulaByte and MontiVision Imaging Technologies.

US-based KulaByte provides technology which is software-based and is used for encoding and transcoding of internet streaming on devices such as iPhones and iPads. Its services are cloud based.

KulaByte’s encoders and transcoders have been used to broadcast the Masters golf tournament.

MontiVision, which is headquartered in Germany, is a partner in the development of KulaByte products and also produces technology for video distribution. Financial details for both purchases were undisclosed.

Mirko Wicha, president and chief executive officer of Haivision Network Video, comments: ‘All market segments now demand access to a high-quality live and on-demand HD media experience regardless of network or platform.’

Wicha adds that the two acquired businesses will enable Haivision to provide media services for both inside and outside the enterprise firewall.

Enterprise firewalls are used by businesses that require multiple firewalls which need to be managed from one location, meaning that communication with a central management portal is needed.

Haivision says that the newly acquired companies will be combined to form its new Internet Media Division.

According to a statement, Haivision has now acquired four companies in the past two years, in a set of deals which combine IP video distribution, digital signage and streaming services.
