Global M&A activity picks up

Activity in global M&A transactions increased by 3.8 per cent in February compared to the same month last year, according to a report from wealth management firm Robert W. Baird & Co.

The strongest markets were China and India, which saw steller increases of 55.7 per cent and 55.8 per cent respectively. The US also reported a year-on-year increase of 31.6 per cent.
 

Conversely, European M&A activity lagged behind, with transactions down 18.2 per cent in the UK and 16.5 per cent in Germany.

Japan also witnessed a 38.9 per cent decrease in the number of M&A deals reported on a year-to-date basis.
