Dutch cutlery company Amefa has bought knife manufacturer Richard Sheffield from its administrator. The Sheffield company went out of business just five months after it took out loans to relocate to Handsworth, Sheffield.

Amefa UK’s managing director Martin Russell said: “I’m delighted that we have been able to secure the deal, safeguarding the Richardson business and keeping alive the Richardson brand.”

Grant Thornton led by client service director Daren Bekisz advised the management team in its negotiations with the administrator: assessing the price; preparation of its business plan; post-acquisition operational issues and the funding options available.
