A business which received £100,000 of investment from Dragons’ Den star Duncan Bannatyne has secured £2.1 million of new contracts.

In the last month, UK Commercial Cleaning Services has won several contracts totalling £2.1 million per year.

The Tyne and Wear-based company, with depots in Washington and Leeds, secured the contracts in the private healthcare, retail and business sectors.

Twenty six-year-old Tony Earnshaw founded the company in 2007, and last year Bannatyne bought a 35 per cent stake in the business for £100,000.

Earnshaw comments: ‘The North East needs more private business successes and my team have proved we can do it. We now want UKCC to be a flagship business for the area and the beyond.’

The commercial cleaning enterprise started as a window cleaning round that Earnshaw bought for £300, and which later made around £6,000 a month in profit, before being sold to launch UK Commercial Cleaning. It currently has around 30 staff.
