Crystal Maze live reboot races towards crowdfunding target

Plenty of gold tokens for the company behind the live reboot of the iconic immersive game show.

The team behind the immersive live return of the Crystal Maze has raised almost half of its £500,000 Indiegogo target in just one day.

Just 24-hours into the 35 day fundraising period the campaign has already raised £238,161 (at the time of writing).

The money is to be put towards building a recreation of the classic set at an undisclosed venue in London. It will also be used initially to pay actors who will work at the attraction.

In the new venue members of the public will be able to play the game in a live setting for £50 per person. Original host Richard O’Brien will also be employed to welcome teams as they enter the game.

The producers were approached by venture capitalists who wanted to invest in the project. But they shunned their advances as they favour the crowdfunding route.

Incentives for people who invest in the campaign range from an early bird ticket for a £30 pledge to exclusive use of the venue for a day. The latter though will set you back a hefty £10,000.

If the crowdfunding campaign is successful, as seems inevitable after today, the attraction is set to open towards the end of this year.

The team behind the new attraction includes Ben Hodges, whose production company is behind the Secret Cinema, and creative director Dean Rodgers.
