Oxfordshire-based defence technology firm Cohort has acquired Abacus EW Consultancy.

Oxfordshire-based defence technology firm Cohort has acquired Abacus EW Consultancy for up to £2.8 million.

Based near Lincoln, Abacus EW is a communications and radar electronic warfare training company, which provides consultancy and simulation training to UK and overseas customers. The acquisition was for an initial sum of £1 million and a further performance-related cash consideration of up to £1.8 million over three years.

Cohort is a defence technology group with government and industry clients, and has around 500 staff across the UK. Since 2006 it has acquired three defence and surveillance subsidiary companies, MASS, SCS and SEA. Under the deal, Abacus founder Paul Burrows will remain with MASS.
 
Andrew Thomis, chief executive of Cohort says that ‘this small but important transaction adds depth, breadth and new customers to an already successful offering.’
