Axis adds Swiss distribution arm

Axis-Shield plc, an in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) company, has acquired a Swiss distribution channel for its point-of-care (PoC) IVD products from Nycomed Pharma AG (NPAG), the Swiss sales subsidiary of Nycomed.

Axis-Shield plc, an in-vitro diagnostics (IVD) company, has acquired a Swiss distribution channel for its point-of-care (PoC) IVD products from Nycomed Pharma AG (NPAG), the Swiss sales subsidiary of Nycomed.

Axis-Shield will assume the distribution of Axis-Shield PoC products from 1 January 2008.

Svein Lien, Axis-Shield’s chief executive officer, commented: “The acquisition of this PoC distribution business in Switzerland is earnings enhancing for Axis-Shield and complements our existing European direct sale capabilities in the UK and the Nordic countries.”

Switzerland is a key market for PoC IVD products and is Axis-Shield’s largest export market in PoC at this time.
