Oxfordshire-based Mantis produces instrumentation for applying nanocoatings and thin film deposition, which allow surfaces to be coated with a thin film of material. Such technology is used in industries including healthcare and cleantech. Mantis’ customers include Cambridge University and Boston Scientific.
Lars Allers, founder and managing director of Mantis, says: ‘Our strategy is to build on our product range and advanced technologies within areas such as medical devices, fuel cell technology and solar power.’
Under the deal, NVM has appointed Julia Walsh as chairman and Andy Pearson as non-executive director of the Mantis board. Peter Hodson led the deal for NVM and represents NVM on the board.
NVM manages over £186 million of venture capital funds, and invests between £2 million and £10 million in UK unquoted companies.
