Albion Ventures backs Hilson Moran MBO

Private equity firm Albion Ventures will co-invest in a £5 million MBO of engineering consultancy Hilson Moran.

The MBO will enable the directors of Hilson Moran to gain independence from the UK subsidiary of Altran Technologies (which acquired Hilson Moran back in 2002).

Engineering consultancy Hilson Moran, which employs more than 200 staff globally, has overseen the development of Wembley Arena and the Olympic Village in Stratford.

Chris Plummer, managing director at Hilson Moran says: ‘Albion’s investment has given us renewed independence in enabling us to react to changing markets and evolving client needs.

‘We are now in a strong position and look forward to embracing the challenges ahead to drive innovation in the engineering and environmental industry alongside the Albion team.’

Hilson Moran achieved a growth in turnover of more than 20 per cent in 2011 from the previous year (the turnover is undisclosed).

Will Fraser-Allen, deputy managing partner at Albion Ventures says: ‘We believe that despite a generally difficult economic environment, the quality of this business makes this an exciting investment.

‘The company was named NCE/ACE Medium consultant of the Year for 2011 and has a long and successful track record since its formation 35 years ago.’
