The UK division of Zurich-based recruitment firm Adecco Group has acquired rival Spring Group for an undisclosed sum.

As part of the deal, Spring Group’s Peter Searle will be appointed CEO of Adecco’s UK and Ireland business. The acquisition will strengthen Adecco’s UK market position with the addition of Spring’s expertise in human resources consulting and telecommunication services.

Searle said: ‘We have no immediate plans to change the very successful and tailored blend of brands that sit within the expanded Adecco Group, but [we] will instead be looking at how we can enhance the company’s existing offering with the skills and talents that the acquisition of Spring will bring.’

The Adecco Group has some 29,000 employees who are housed in 5,800 offices across the world. The portfolio of existing brands within Adecco’s UK and Ireland business include the mainstream staffing operation, as well as secretarial specialist Office Angels, IT recruiter Computer People and the engineering division Roevin.
