Interoute Communications acquires Nottingham-based cloud services provider

Data centre hosting and telecommunications provider Interoute Communications Ltd has acquired Quantix, a Nottingham-based cloud services provider.

The acquisition adds managed application services to Interoute’s portfolio of offerings. Quantix specialises in hosted database systems including Oracle and SQL. Its ‘OraCloud’ service allows customer to rent a hosted Oracle database on a month-by-month basis.

Gareth Williams, Interoute CEO, comments: ‘Our strategy is based around providing customers with a comprehensive portfolio of solutions and services from the Ground (infrastructure and connectivity) to the cloud (fully managed services hosted within the Interoute private cloud).

‘We are focused on service innovation combined with a constant drive for efficiency to bring value to customers and keep ahead of the market. Our enterprise strategy “Unified ICT” is an approach to creating and managing all enterprise ICT infrastructures as a service, delivered from a secure networking platform.’

Commenting on the deal Quantix managing director, Simon Goodenough says: ‘We have built a strong and loyal customer base in the UK, which we will continue to serve as usual. By joining forces with Interoute we are now able to take our services across Europe.

‘We believe there is a natural affinity between our offering and Interoute’s and we are excited to be part of the journey towards becoming the leading provider of cloud-based services in Europe.’
