Entrepreneur Jane Rafter has secured £75,000 from Dragons’ Den investors James Caan and Theo Paphitis for her Slinks sandal collection.
Caan and Paphitis now share a 40 per cent stake in Rafter’s business, which focuses on sandals with interchangeable straps and tops based on a patented system of locking beads.
Says Caan, ‘When someone like Jane Rafter comes into the Den with a patent obtained and precise facts and figures, the pitch instantly becomes an attractive opportunity.’
He adds, ‘Slinks has a lot of potential and will be developed to target the larger retailers.’
Born and raised in Madrid, Jane Rafter studied at the National College of Art & Design in Dublin and won two awards for her invention of the interlocking bead system prior to her appearance on Dragons’ Den.
