LDC lands Airclaims MBO

Aviation insurance services firm Airclaims has been bought by its management in a multi-million pound deal funded by private equity group LDC.

Airclaims, based conveniently at Heathrow, was previously owned jointly by UK and French insurance companies British Aviation Insurance and La Reunion Aerienne. Piloting the MBO was chief executive Derek Hammond Giles, who heads an 11-strong management team.

The company – established over 40 years ago – provides aircraft valuations, consultancy services and claims management solutions to the global aerospace industry. It also owns the CASE Aviation Database, which contains comprehensive details of over 90,000 commercial aircraft, and employs 140 staff in offices as far afield as Sydney, California, Montreal and Mexico.

‘With strong growth forecast in global air travel, this deal gives us the flexibility going forward to capitalise on future opportunities, develop our services further and maximise growth in the emerging markets across the world,’ Hammond Giles enthused.

Equally positive was Yann Souillard who, along with Alex Bowden, led the buy-out from LDC’s Reading office. ‘This is a very strong investment for LDC. We are backing a strong management team that has worked closely together for a number of years, giving them an excellent understanding of the business.’
