“My wife said ‘just do it or I’m going to leave you’” is just one of the reasons offered by Johnnie Boden when explaining how his hugely successful company started.

The founder of Boden clothing adds that he was a “very bad stockbroker” whose wife didn’t feel he had made the most of the start he’d been given in life.

Another reason he started his company was that from his own personal experience high-street shopping wasn’t the most pleasurable experience. He wanted to save others the years of pain he’d suffered. And after all isn’t personal experience the inspiration for many of the best business ideas out there?

Now Boden is the second biggest UK clothing brand in the US and the company employs 1,200 people. Watch Boden explain his incredible journey in the above clip.
