Wind turbine developer Vertical Wind Energy has raised £880,000 in equity investment as it launches its first two products to the commercial market.

The Northern Irish company, which designs, manufactures and installs turbines, secured the cash injection from South East Seed Fund and angel investors from the South East Capital Alliance.

Existing investors Clarendon Fund Managers and Northstar Equity Investors also placed more money in the company.

Two of the company’s products are now in the government’s micro-certification scheme and are being analysed by the appointed agency, TUV NEL.

Vertical Wind Energy chief executive Tony Gordon says the investment will allow the company to promote, sell and install turbines at more sites across the UK and Ireland.
