UBC acquires Above The Title

UBC, a supplier of radio content, has acquired London-based production company Above The Title for up to £1.08 million.

Above The Title produces a number of radio dramatisations and owns the rights to the radio series of Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhikers’ Guide to The Galaxy. The company generated turnover of £772,000 and gross profits of £260,000 in the year to September 2009.

Simon Cole, chief executive of UBC, says that the deal is part of the group’s strategy of consolidating the radio production market, and follows the acquisition of Radio Lynx in August last year.

In the six months ending September 2009, UBC reported revenue of £1.9 million and pre-tax profits of £951,000.
