Take Eat Easy raises €6m for European expansion

Company now positioned to take on Just Eat and Hungry House in UK market: while also offering deliveries of restaurant-quality food.

Belgian online food delivery service Take Eat Easy has raised €6 million in a series A funding round, paving the way to expand into major European markets including the UK.

The new capital comes through investments from Rocket Internet (investments include TravelBird, DaWanda, MarleySpoon), global early and growth stage venture firm DN Capital (Shazam) and Piton Capital (Fanduel, Quandoo, DaWanda).

The cash raised in the funding round will be used to strengthen the business’s position in Brussels and Paris as well as moving into capitals of other major European countries including Spain, Germany and the UK.

The company was founded in Belgium in September 2013 by four founders described as “interested in technology and gastronomy”. It allows customers to order restaurant quality food online and have it delivered to their door.

Since the service launched in Paris in November 2014 the number of partners restaurants has increased from 30 to 150 – with a further 100 across other French cities.

Take Eat Easy co-founder and CEO Adrien Roose concede that “getting food delivered does not substitute the restaurant experience”.

“But we enable our customers to enjoy their favourite meals at home or at the office, when they don’t have time or don’t feel like leaving the house,” he said.
