The 50:50 purchase of Teeside Power Plant – Europe’s largest combined-cycle gas turbine – will enlarge GdF’s UK footprint, raising its total installed electricity production capacity to 1,150 MW. The French utility already has a plant in Shotton, Wales.

For international industrial and services group, Suez, the deal also signals expansion plans in the UK where it has been present since 1984, generating €1.7 billion (£1.3 million) in 2007.
