Yorkshire-based Star Sportswear has been bought out by its management. Brothers Richard and Paul Archbell and other family members sold the business to a three-strong management team for an undisclosed sum.
Star employs 100 people and generates annual sales of £11 million from sportswear and accessories.
The deal was backed by Kenmore Private Equity, with finance provided by Yorkshire Bank. Clearwater Corporate Finance advised the management team, which is led by new managing director Doug Bedford and includes sales and marketing director Shane Bray and finance director Alastair Harries.
Family-run since 1916, Star Sportswear owns the Prostar brand, and supplied socks to the first team to climb Everest.
