Task marketplace Sooqini has netted $500,000 (£321,000) of growth capital through a deal led by Lars Toft Larsen and Paolo Rubatto.
The business, which is similar to US-based TaskRabbit, allows people to buy or sell services online such as cleaning or gardening. To coincide with the seed funding round, Sooqini has rebranded with a new website, and has plans to launch an iOS mobile application later in September and an Android version in October.
Sooqini now has 15,000 sellers offering services and has pulled in £300,000 worth of jobs to date, with the platform taking a 15 per cent fee.
Raj Singh, founder of Sooqini, comments, ‘While there are plenty of tasks private individuals need undertaken for them, businesses can also benefit from the verified sellers on Sooqini – whether it is just to get someone to carry out some research quickly, or something bigger like data entry.
‘Sooqini’s aim is to be the place to get stuff done for everyone, whether it is the man on the street who needs his shirts ironed, or a business that needs its accounts done.’

Sooqini’s platform includes a trust verification system, which utilises a user’s social media presence to determine the quality of a member and then award a Verified badge. Once a task is completed, a Tested badge is then given.
New backers of the business include Lars Toft Larsen and Paolo Rubatto, founder of Start Capital. As part of the deal, both Larsen and Rubatto will be joining the board of Sooqini.
