Skimlinks pockets $4.5 million in Series B round

Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments has led a $4.5 million (£2.8 million) Series B financing round for affiliate digital marketing company  Skimlinks that will fund international growth.

The London-based company, which has offices in New York and San Francisco, will target further market share in the US and Europe, and increase product research and development following the funding round.

Founded in 2008, Skimlinks has developed an in-text monetization platform for web publishers, which enables clients to be paid for hyperlinks placed in content that directs traffic to third party advertisers and other organisations. It has so far secured $7.5 million in financing.

In addition to Bertelsmann, new investors 500startups and Venrex Investment Management and existing investors, Sussex Place Ventures, The Accelerator Group, and NESTA, also contributed to the latest funding round.
