Western Automotive, a commercial car repair and fleet business based in South Wales, has received a funding package of £170,000.

Finance Wales, a subsidiary of the Welsh assembly government, provided £100,000 in debt, while the balance was in the form of a grant from the assembly government’s Single Investment Fund. The funding follows an original cash injection of £50,000 by Finance Wales last year.

The money will be used to expand the business, whose founders Richard Stock and Spencer Kinzett plan to launch an office in Cardiff serving South East Wales as well as acquiring new machinery.

The adviser on the deal was Swansea-based Riverside Consultancies.

Finance Wales has invested more than £100 million in Wales-based businesses since 2001.
