Venture capital firm Shackleton Secondaries has exited Open Systems Management (OSM) after global systems management provider Help/Systems acquired the British software company.
Shackleton, which specialises in direct secondary venture and development capital investments, acquired a 43 per cent interest in OSM in 2007. The sale amount has not been disclosed.
Led by chief executive Neil Chaney, OSM provides systems and IT operations management software for users of the Linux, Unix and Microsoft operating systems. The company is based in Fleet, Hampshire, and was founded in February 1998. It has offices in Wokingham, UK, Seattle, USA, and Perth, Western Australia.
The acquisition is the fifth for Help/Systems, which has plans to grow international sales significantly over the next three to five years. It plans to merge the British company into its Skybot Software operations, a product which was launched last year.
Help/Systems International managing director Konrad Litwin comments, ‘OSM’s large customer base and success in the areas of spooled file management and job scheduling were seen as a great fit for Help/Systems.
‘By merging the development paths of Skybot Software and OSM, we retain a leading-edge technology, while adding over 10 years of customer input to the functional capability of our solution.’
