SABMiller acquires Vietnam JV 

London-based brewer SABMiller Plc has acquired Vinamilk’s 50 per cent interest in SABMiller Vietnam JV Company (Vietnam JV) for an undisclosed sum.

London-based brewer SABMiller Plc has acquired Vinamilk’s 50 per cent interest in SABMiller Vietnam JV Company (Vietnam JV) for an undisclosed sum.

Vietnam JV’s brewery is located in Binh Duong province and supplies the markets of Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong Delta and Da Nang. The company’s assets at the end of 2008 totalled US$31.8 million (£21.9 million).

Ari Mervis, managing director of SABMiller Asia BV, said:  ‘Having acquired Vinamilk’s interest in the company, we look forward to developing and expanding our interests further in the growing and attractive Vietnamese beer market.”

SABMiller reported strong growth in the six months ended 30 September 2008, with revenue up by four per cent to £7 billion.
