Energy efficient IT provider Racktivity has announced the close of a series B fundraising, attracting $8 million (£5.1 million) in new investment.

The company, which provides hardware and software that manages data centre power consumption, will use the money to expand into the US and develop its product and technology. Partech International led the fundraising with the participation of existing investor and early-stage venture capital fund, Big Bang Ventures, which has an office in London.

Racktivity, whose products aim to substantially improve uptime and reduce energy consumption, costs and carbon emissions of data centres, has also announced the opening of its US headquarters in California.

Led by president and CEO Marco DeMiroz, Racktivity was founded last year in Belgium.
