UK software provider ChangeBASE has been acquired by Quest Software, taking the US company’s 2011 deal count to six.
California-headquartered Quest is to use ChangeBASE’s technology to speed up migrations to Windows 7 and 8, and improve desktop virtualisation.
ChangeBASE provides a product portfolio that ‘automates’ three of what are reportedly the most resource-intenseive proscesses associated with application migration: analysis, remediation and conversion.
Shayne Higdon, senior vice president and general management for Client Management and Performance Monitoring at Quest Software, comments: ‘By marrying our portfolio for managing both physical and virtual desktop environments with ChangeBASE’s ability to address some of the most pressing issues around application compatibility, Quest becomes a single strategic provider that delivers fast application migration to new platforms, devices and delivery methods, while minimising risk and cost.’
The deal follows up on recent purchases made by Quest including Symlabs in June and RemoteScan in May. Quest’s acquisition strategy is focused on strengthening its product portfolio as it ‘adapts to markets’, with 20 acquisitions made in the past 10 years, according to a statement.
Financial details of the acquisition were undisclosed.
