US-based warranty management and services lifestyle software business 4CS Solutions has been bought out by Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC).

The deal for the privately held company, which has its UK operations in Warwickshire, was for an undisclosed amount. The business was founded in 1995 by Ashok Kartham and has software including iWarranty, iSupport and iFleet.

Its software allows customers to reduce warranty costs, increase service parts sales and grow service contracts revenues.

The purchase is said by PTC to broaden its portfolio of product support and service organisation services. 4CS’s software is used by equipment manufacturers to gauge product performance and service.

President and chief executive officer of US-headquartered PTC, Jim Heppelmann, says that with the acquisition PTC is separating itself from other product lifestyle management vendors in its ability to support manufacturers across the entire product lifecycle.

He adds that the combined services from 4CS and PTC will allow companies to develop and provide guidelines and service policy coverage before service is performed as well as analyse product and service levels.

The deal for 4CS follows PTC’s acquisition of MKS, which provides technology used in tracking the lifecycle and production of software products, in April.

Outside of the US and UK, 4CS has offices in India and Canada.
