International media company Headland Media has acquired Maritime news publication Newslink Services.

Newslink has offices in Cyprus, Greece, India and the Philippines, and produces daily electronic newspapers specifically for maritime customers. The acquisition sum was undisclosed.

Formed in 2008 in an MBO from Sky, Headland Media has offices in the UK, Europe and the US, and produces a variety of multi-media content for maritime, hotel and retail sectors globally.

Headland was advised on the acquisition by Schofield Sweeney solicitors, who also advised the company on its £3.5 million re-financing by Yorkshire Bank earlier this year.

Schofield Sweeney chairman, Chris Schofield, comments: ‘Despite the general market conditions, which remain slow across all sectors, we have had an extremely active start to the year and, with a number of deals due to complete during May and June, the first half of this year is set to be one of our busiest on record.’
