Management buys Bottlegreen

Bottlegreen Drinks Company, a supplier of elderflower-based food and drink, has been acquired in a management buy-out for an undisclosed sum. Piper Private Equity backed the deal with £5 million, while HSBC’s Leveraged Finance team provided debt.

Followng the buy-out, managing director Simon Speers will stay in his position, while Steven Davies will join as chairman. Davies was previously managing director of Britvic.

Bottlegreen specialises in non-alcoholic drinks and sorbets. Piper’s investment will be used to expand its product range and broaden its distribution.

The company was founded by owners Kit and Shireen Morris in 1989. Based in Stroud, Gloucestershire, it employs more than 30 people and generates a turnover of £8.2 million. Bottlegreen is now expected to grow its brand by about 20 per cent year on year.
