The home move concierge service Just Move In has raised £1.5m in a seed funding round through angel investors including Octopus Investment founders Simon Rogerson and Chris Hulatt and Ross Adams, chief executive officer of Acast, Simon Hamblin, former chief technology officer at ASOS and Brett Akker, co-founder of Streetcar and LOVESPACE.
The company targets individuals but also has corporate clients such as estate agencies Carter Jonas and Strutt & Parker.
The company helps new home owners to transition to a new home with a range of services, from switching over the broadband and informing the council of the new address to organising removals and storage, with a bespoke account handler. Every client gets personal treatment, with an array of services such as settling in a new area and recommendations for cleaners or fitness trainers.
Direct memberships to the service costs a one-off fee of £290 for lifelong access, so all future moves (within the UK) are covered. However, the core concierge service is complimentary to clients of its real estate agency partners.
Each client has a concierge manager who provide support over the phone or over email. The company plans to develop its technology so that more of the offering will become automated with the aim of making the moving process easier, although the company says that the human touch remains central to its growth plans.
Ross Nichols, co founder and chief operating officer, says: “Our team genuinely enjoy helping people during this busy period – saving them time, hassle and money in the process. We were always hearing people complaining about the stresses and strains of moving house. So, we created Just Move In, a concierge service to handle all the tedious administration that comes with moving house.”
Just Move In partners with ethical businesses wherever possible and works exclusively with green energy companies, including Octopus and Ecotricity. Just Move In is proud to be a Certified B Corporation., meaning it is a business that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability.
Nichols previously ran digital strategy for dmg media and founded property tech start-up RoomFlick, featured as ‘Best New App’ by Apple. Co founder and chief executive officer, Tom Old spent 10 years in the consumer-tech industry helping grow a business called Disruptive Ltd and is owner of two global iPhone accessory brands, GEAR4 and NudeAudio.
