John Crane acquires Orion Corporation

John Crane, a Slough-based manufacturer of mechanical seals, has acquired Orion Corporation, a US-based designer and manufacturer of hydrodynamic bearings. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

  • British Gas owner Centrica Plc has acquired a 22 per cent share of Chester-based Secure Electrans for £4 million in cash.

  • Struggling retailer JJB Sports has sold its fitness clubs business, including gyms and adjoining retail outlets, to former JJB founder and chairman Dave Whelan in a deal worth £83.4 million.
  • Befordshire-based Genesis Communications has acquired Glasgow rival THUS Mobile from Cable&Wireless for an undisclosed sum.
