Software security and media technology company Irdeto has acquired BD+ technology for Blu-ray movies in a deal which sees an exit for Rovi Corporation.
According to a statement the acquired technology will be folded into the company’s Irdeto ActiveCloak for Media service and give Hollywood studios a better way of protecting high-value Blu-ray film titles from the possibility of piracy.
Graham Kill, chief executive officer of Irdeto, comments: ‘This acquisition further proves our commitment to establishing dynamic security as the industry standard for Hollywood studios taking advantage of the Media 3.0 opportunity – consumer demand for content anywhere, on any device and at any time.’
