Ingenious goes digital

Ingenious Media has invested £3 million in The Digital Rights Group, a TV distribution specialist, allowing for the immediate purchase of Portman Film and Television, a drama distribution group.

The investment by Ingenious secures 75 per cent of the company and, aside from the purchase of Portman, it will provide working capital for the business. Ingenious says it has indicated to DRG that further funding will be available to take advantage of future acquisition opportunities.

DRG will focus on acquiring finished programmes as well as formats and will operate across multiple genres.

The Portman acquisition was agreed on 1 December 2006; completion is scheduled to take place in early January 2007.
