India-based mobile content provider IMI Mobile is buying UK-based digital music distributor DX3 as part of its push into Europe and non-mobile markets. The terms of the deal were undisclosed.
IMI has operations in more than 40 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. It specialises in service delivery platforms, carrier grade messaging platforms, web services and voice platforms. The company’s clients include Vodafone, Virgin Mobile and Google.
London-based Dx3 provides Internet and mobile content delivery services in formats including music, video and ring tones to publishers and retailers for their promotional activities. Its clients include EMI, MTV, Sony Ericsson and Virgin.
DX3 CEO Anu Shah commented: “IMI has a very strong technology platform, many cost-efficient data centers around the world, support and the product range that will enable DX3 to go from being just a digital music provider to connect with social network tools, mobile marketing tools and UGC tools.”
DX3 will trade as IMI and will retain its 15 staff base in London. It will also open a Zurich office to serve European clients, Shah said.
