Floor-covering distributor Headlam Group plc has bought Florprotec, a supplier of floor protection products used in refurbishment projects and by the construction industry.

The deal was agreed for £1.2 million and was paid on completion in cash from Headlam’s existing resources.

The acquired business has re-located to Headlam’s Tamworth site and was bought to expand and complement its national operations.

The vendors were advised by Steve Marston, M&A deal leader at BCMS Corporate, who said his team attracted 14 potential acquirers for Florprotec.

“Of these, nine placed substantial offers,” he added. “Six of these were well over seven figures. Our client selected the Headlam Group for a number of reasons, but first and foremost, it was the simple and clean structure of the overall deal that secured it.”
