As part of the deal, Halma, which has offices in the UK, also acquires Robutec GmbH, a subsidiary of Medicel.

Medicel designs and supplies injector devices for intra ocular lenses used for cataract surgery.

Andrew Williams, chief executive of Halma comments: ‘Medicel and Robutec further extend our presence in the ophthalmic surgery instrument market which is forecast to see continued growth due to an aging population and increased global access to healthcare.’

Medicel and Robutec will operate as a single company within Halma’s health and analysis sector as part of the Health Optics group of businesses.
