Guinness World Records, a publisher of record-breaking achievements, has acquired social networking site Bragster.com for an undisclosed sum.

London-based Bragster enables users to upload videos of their dares and dangerous feats. The company was founded by Wim Vernaeve and Bertrand Bodson in 2006 and its videos reached over 100 million viewers in 2009.

Bodson says: ‘We understand the intricacies and motivations of online communities and, coupled with the reputation and amazing source material that Guinness World Records constantly attracts, this will be a winning combination.’

First published in 1955, the Guinness World Records book is available in more than 25 languages and sells more than three million copies annually.
